WHAT MAKES THIS BEER UNIQUE?

This summer, uncovering your next favorite craft beer flavor has never been more convenient than a quick trip to your local store.

As we navigate through a period of high living costs — where even a decent four-pack of craft beer can set you back anywhere from $20 to $30 — the price tag of $13.99 for a six-pack feels just right.

Retail powerhouse Aldi — a store known for its diverse selection that ranges from winter gear to gardening tools and even vinyl records — has joined forces with the independent brewery Hawke’s Brewing Co., based in New South Wales, to offer up their award-winning XPA recipe now available in cans, previously found only on tap.

Hawke’s Tropicaldi XPA stands out as an easy-to-enjoy tropical pale ale, overflowing with aromas of pear, orange, and stone fruits. According to the brewers, it's the perfect companion for summer barbecues, beach outings, or simply relaxing at home while escaping the summer heat.

When poured, it presents a pale golden hue with a slight haze, topped with a light, frothy head.

Upon opening the can, the delightful tropical aromas are immediately inviting.

The first sip introduces refreshing fruit flavors that dance across your palate, accompanied by a gentle resinous bitterness that makes this brew quite approachable. A hint of fruity sweetness remains present throughout, culminating in a crisp and refreshing finish that is genuinely easy to drink.

The initial release flew off the shelves, but fear not — a second batch is scheduled for release in early February, with a third anticipated in April.

With its drinkability and a cost of just $2.33 per can for a recipe that has earned an AIBIA gold medal, it’s also friendly on the wallet.

SHOULD YOU SHARE IT?

With an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 4 percent, this beer is perfect for sharing with friends on a sweltering summer day, or it can be enjoyed solo while lounging at home after a shopping trip.

WHAT’S THE COST?

It’s priced at $13.99 for a six-pack.
