1979: A crush of fans at Cincinnati's Riverfront Coliseum, where The Who was performing, resulted in 11 deaths.
1984: A Union Carbide subsidiary's pesticide plant in Bhopal, India, released a cloud of methyl isocyanate gas, causing an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 deaths and over 500,000 injuries.
