The Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) has deployed a new battle group to Somalia, showcasing its commitment to international peacekeeping efforts. The ceremony, held at the International Peace Support Operations Training Centre in Ssingo, marked the return of Battle Group 41 and the official farewell to three outgoing contingents: Battle Group 46, the United Nations Guard Unit 12, and Uganda Military Training and Mentor Team 10. Maj Gen Takirwa expressed his confidence in the outgoing troops, urging them to maintain discipline and focus on their mission, emphasizing the UPDF's dedication to peace.
Col. Moses Nabaasa, the Commandant of the IPSO-TC, acknowledged the UPDF instructors' role in providing pre-mission training and commended the trainees for their active participation. Col. Michael Walaka Hyeroba, the commander of Battle Group 41, expressed gratitude for the UPDF leadership and IPSO-TC's support throughout the mission.
